John Smith’s Story
From East Austin to the City Council: 20 Years of Community Leadership
About John
John Smith was born and raised in East Austin. His parents were educators who instilled in him the values of service, hard work, and community.
After graduating from UT Austin with a degree in Urban Planning, John spent two decades organizing communities and building small businesses. He’s led successful campaigns for affordable housing, youth programs, and economic development.
John and his wife Maria raised their three children in South Austin. They understand the challenges families face— affording rent, finding good jobs, and building a future in the city they love.
